The existence of a long-lived isomer with a few hundred milliseconds half-life is confirmed, and the nuclear spins and moments of the ground and isomeric states in\u00a0<sup>79<\/sup>Zn,\u00a0as well as the isomer shift are measured. From the observed hyperfine structures, spins I=9\/2\u00a0and I=\u00bd\u00a0are firmly assigned to the ground and isomeric states. The magnetic moment \u03bc(<sup>79<\/sup>Zn)=-1.1866(10)\u03bc<sub>N<\/sub>, confirms the spin-parity I=9\/2<sup>+<\/sup> with a \u03bdg<sub>9\/2<\/sub><sup>-1\u00a0<\/sup> shell-model configuration, in excellent agreement with the prediction from large scale shell-model theories. The magnetic moment\u00a0\u03bc(<sup>79m<\/sup>Zn)=-1.0180(12)\u03bc<sub>N\u00a0<\/sub> supports a positive parity for the isomer, with a wave function dominated by a 2h-1p\u00a0neutron excitation across the N=50\u00a0shell gap. The large isomer shift reveals an increase of the intruder isomer mean square charge radius with respect to that of the ground state, \u03b4<r<sup>2<\/sup>><sup>79,79m<\/sup>=+0.204(6) fm<sup>2<\/sup>, providing first evidence of shape coexistence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Isomer Shift and Magnetic Moment of the Long-Lived \u00bd+ Isomer in 79Zn: Signature of Shape Coexistence near 78Ni X.F.
