Chevrier <em>et al.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>doi: <a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1103\/PhysRevLett.108.162501\">10.1103\/PhysRevLett.108.162501<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We report on the spectroscopic quadrupole moment measurement of the 7\/2<sub>1<\/sub><sup>&#8211;<\/sup> isomeric state in <sup>43<\/sup><sub>16<\/sub>S<sub>27<\/sub> [E<sup>*<\/sup>=320.5(5)\u2009\u2009keV, T<sub>1\/2<\/sub>=415(3)\u2009\u2009ns], using the time dependent perturbed angular distribution technique at the RIKEN RIBF facility. Our value, \u2223Q<sub>s<\/sub>\u2223=23(3)\u2009\u2009efm<sup>2<\/sup>, is larger than that expected for a single-particle state. Shell model calculations using the modern SDPF-U interaction for this mass region reproduce remarkably well the measured \u2223Q<sub>s<\/sub>\u2223, and show that non-negligible correlations drive the isomeric state away from a purely spherical shape.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Is the 7\/21&#8211; Isomer State of 43S Spherical?
